$20-$22/hour to start; up to $25/hour for candidates with strong relevant experience and credentials About the Position North Shore Medical Transportation LLC is hiring a dependable, professional driver to provide safe non-emergency transportation for seniors, wheelchair users, and other passengers traveling to medical appointments and scheduled destinations. This position starts part-time, with the opportunity for full-time hours as ride volume grows. Full-time hours are not guaranteed at the start. Dependable weekday availability is essential. You will drive a company-provided 2026 Toyota Sienna Hybrid with a Freedom Motors rear-entry wheelchair conversion. Required Qualifications Must currently hold a valid City of Chicago chauffeur license OR Class A/B CDL to meet our hiring criteria. Credentials must be verified as appropriate for the vehicle and assigned trips before driving. Driving record acceptable to our commercial insurer. Ability to complete required screening and applicable NEMT safety training before transporting passengers. Reliable attendance and dependable availability. Professional communication and respectful, patient customer service. Comfortable using smartphone navigation and communicating with dispatch. Ability to safely operate the ramp, use wheelchair securement equipment, and assist passengers, with reasonable accommodation where applicable. Preferred Qualifications Prior NEMT, Medicar, paratransit, or wheelchair transportation experience. Completed Medicar/NEMT safety training, such as iDrivio. Experience transporting seniors and passengers with mobility limitations. Responsibilities Safely transport passengers to and from scheduled destinations. Assist passengers with boarding and exiting using approved procedures. Operate the wheelchair ramp and properly secure wheelchairs and passenger restraints. Complete pre-trip safety inspections and report vehicle or equipment concerns. Keep the vehicle clean and ready for service. Communicate with dispatch, passengers, caregivers, and facility staff about pickups and delays. Follow scheduled-trip and Will Call return procedures. Complete required trip documentation and protect passenger confidentiality. Follow company safety procedures and provide reliable, courteous service. Service Scope North Shore provides non-emergency wheelchair and ambulatory transportation, including power-wheelchair accommodation within vehicle limits. We do not provide stretcher transportation or medical care. Passengers may travel with their own prescribed portable oxygen under company procedures; drivers do not provide, administer, adjust, or medically manage oxygen.
