Job Description
Overview We are seeking a reliable and physically capable part-time driver to deliver and pick up approximately 1•00 stops and upto 120 packages .Some packages will weigh more than 100 pounds . The work typically takes 5-6 hours• for an experienced and capable driver. Days are flexible based on preference but must be agreed upon in advance. Required arrival time is 8:30 a.m. As a delivery and pickup driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting packages, managing pickups, and ensuring timely deliveries with professionalism and enthusiasm. Responsibilities Safely operate various types of vehicles including box trucks, step vans to deliver packages and pick up shipments. Load, unload, and secure cargo using manual handling techniques and material handling equipment such as pallet jacks or hand trucks. Follow established routes efficiently while adhering to traffic regulations and safety standards. Provide excellent customer service by interacting professionally with clients during deliveries and pickups. Maintain accurate delivery logs, route documentation, and delivery confirmation using mobile devices or handheld scanners. Conduct routine vehicle inspections to ensure safety compliance and report any maintenance issues promptly. Handle heavy lifting with proper manual lifting practices to prevent injury while moving packages or equipment. Requirements Prior delivery of mix of light and heavy packages upto and > 100 lbs. driver experience or familiarity is needed. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience driving commercial trucks or box trucks is a plus. Knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, weight handling in the workplace, and safe lifting practices. Strong customer service skills with a professional attitude during interactions with clients. Ability to work independently, follow detailed routes, and manage time effectively in a part-time schedule. Physical ability to perform manual handling tasks including lifting heavy packages safely and efficiently.
