Overview JA Courier Services is seeking a reliable and experienced Backup Mail Delivery Driver for an established USPS contract delivery route in Tall Timbers, Maryland . Previous USPS mail delivery experience is required. We are specifically looking for someone who understands mail sorting, route organization, package scanning, mailbox delivery, and the day-to-day responsibilities of completing a postal route. This is a backup position for someone who can provide coverage when the primary driver is unavailable, including scheduled days off, vacations, emergencies, and other coverage needs. The selected driver will receive training on our specific Tall Timbers route before working independently.

IMPORTANT

This position requires the driver to use their own reliable vehicle to complete the route. Duties Report to the designated USPS facility on scheduled coverage days Pick up, sort, organize, and prepare mail and packages for delivery Load mail and packages into your personal vehicle Complete the assigned Tall Timbers postal delivery route safely and efficiently Deliver mail and packages accurately to designated addresses and mailboxes Complete required package scans and delivery procedures Follow the established route and applicable USPS delivery procedures Properly handle and protect U.S. mail and packages while in your possession Return required mail, equipment, or documentation to the postal facility after completing the route Communicate promptly with management regarding delays, delivery issues, or route concerns. Requirements Previous USPS mail delivery experience is required. Experience may include work as a: Rural Carrier Associate (RCA) Assistant Rural Carrier (ARC) City Carrier Assistant (CCA) Rural or City Mail Carrier CDS/HCR Contract Mail Delivery Driver Other comparable USPS mail delivery position Applicants must also: Have a valid driver's license Own or have access to a reliable Large SUV for mail and package delivery Be comfortable using their personal vehicle throughout the delivery route Have sufficient vehicle space for daily mail and package volume Be experienced with sorting/organizing mail and completing a postal route Be comfortable with frequent vehicle entry and exit Be comfortable delivering in varying weather conditions Ideal Candidate This position is ideal for a current or former USPS carrier or experienced USPS contract route driver who is looking for supplemental income and occasional additional work. We need someone who can learn our Tall Timbers route and become a dependable go-to backup driver when coverage is needed. Because this is a postal delivery route, reliability is extremely important. Once a coverage day is accepted, we depend on the backup driver to report as scheduled and complete the route.
