May also take orders, collect payment, or stock merchandise at point of delivery. Includes newspaper delivery drivers. Excludes gig economy drivers.
About the role Waypoint Medical Transport provides safe, on-time non-emergency medical transportation for wheelchair and ambulatory passengers across Eastern North Carolina. Our passengers are going to dialysis, treatment, follow-up appointments, and discharges. Most of them cannot get there any other way. Our company was started to provide a better experience for our customers. We are hiring a part-time driver to run scheduled routes in or out of Greenville. This is a good fit for someone who has flexibility during their weekday hours and wants to take on a new role and grow.
Schedule:
Weekday daytime, with early morning starts for standing dialysis routes. Hours will vary based on booked trips. We are starting out and expanding so there will be no guaranteed minimum hours but they will grow as we secure contracts. What you'll do Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and document them Pick up and drop off passengers on schedule, including door-through-door assistance Operate a wheelchair lift and secure wheelchairs using four-point tie-down systems Assist passengers with limited mobility safely, within the limits of your training Log trip status, arrival times, and signatures in our dispatch app on a smartphone Communicate professionally with facility staff, clinical teams, and family members Maintain a clean, stocked, and mechanically sound vehicle Protect passenger privacy at all times What we require 25 years of age or older (auto insurance requirement) Valid North Carolina driver's license with at least 3 years of licensed driving history Acceptable motor vehicle record: no DWI/DUI within the last 7 years, no more than two moving violations in the last 3 years, no at-fault accidents in the last 12 months Ability to pass a criminal background check, including state and national records, sex offender registry, NC Health Care Personnel Registry, and federal exclusion list screening Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screen and remain enrolled in our random testing pool for the duration of employment Physical ability to push and maneuver an occupied wheelchair weighing 250+ lbs on ramps and lifts, and to bend, kneel, and reach to secure equipment Reliable personal transportation to pick up a full-size van (Ford Transit) Comfortable driving a Ford Transit Van and using a smartphone app for trip assignments and status updates Preferred, not required Prior experience in NEMT, home health, EMS, CNA, or senior care Current CPR and First Aid certification Familiarity with Pitt, Beaufort, Craven, and surrounding counties We provide and pay for wheelchair securement training, passenger assistance training, CPR, and First Aid. You do not need these on day one, but you must complete them within your first 30 days. What we're looking for Reliability is the job. Our passengers have appointment times that cannot move, and dialysis patients cannot miss a session. The driver who succeeds here is the one who is early every time, communicates when something changes, and treats each passenger with patience and respect. Compensation and terms $16-19 per hour, paid weekly Paid training Company vehicle and fuel provided; no personal vehicle use required for transport.
