Job Description

We are glad you are interested in joining our team and serving the citizens of Scotland County ! Scotland County employees work to improve the wellbeing and safety of citizens' lives. As a county employee you will work with others who value respect, teamwork, dependability, accountability, innovation and excellence. An employee in this class p rovides timely transportation services to clients on public routes and upon referral, to medical appointments, service agencies, grocery stores, job interviews, etc. within and outside Scotland County. Prepares and maintains accurate and ongoing documentation of workload activities through passenger logs, wheelchair lift logs, mileage logs, and client behavior documentation; Assists handicapped passengers onboarding and offboarding of the vehicle while exercising professional judgment of the individual circumstances and the extent of assistance extended to the passenger; Uses a two-way radio for communication and to request assistance when needed; Tracks, records, and reports routine vehicle maintenance needed and non routine maintenance needed for SCATS vehicles; Washes and cleans the interior and exterior of SCATS vehicles as needed; Performs other duties as assigned by the agency which may include transportation during a Commissioner declared State of Emergency. Completion of grammar school and six months of experience in driving a delivery type transportation of cargo vehicle; Or , an equivalent combination of education and experience; Preference that the successful candidate possess and maintain a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License.
