A Sales Delivery Driver drives a truck or other vehicle over established routes or within an established territory and sells or delivers goods, such as food products, including restaurant take-out items, or pick up or deliver items such as commercial laundry. May also take orders, collect payment, or stock merchandise at point of delivery. Includes newspaper delivery drivers. Excludes gig economy drivers.
The Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and compliant transportation of ready to eat company products and materials while operating company vehicles in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT), New York State, and company regulations. This role ensures vehicle safety through daily inspections, proper documentation, adherence to defensive driving practices, and maintenance of required driver qualifications. The Driver is accountable for completing deliveries efficiently, monitoring vehicle conditions, maintaining required safety equipment, and reporting any accidents, violations, or operational issues promptly. The position requires a strong commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, customer service, and the professional representation of the company at all times. Key Responsibilities Operate company vehicles safely and in compliance with DOT regulations, New York State laws, and company policies. Perform and document daily vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and safety. Complete and submit vehicle logs, delivery records, and inspection reports accurately and on time. Verify that all required safety equipment is present and operational before beginning deliveries. Maintain appropriate vehicle temperatures and operating conditions for transported products. Refuel vehicles according to company procedures and ensure vehicles are returned to designated locations at the end of each shift. Wear required personal protective equipment and company uniform while on duty. Report vehicle defects, maintenance concerns, accidents, traffic violations, health status changes, or license-related issues immediately. Follow established accident response procedures, including notifying management, documenting incidents, and completing accident reports. Maintain all required certifications, medical clearances, defensive driving training, and driver qualification records.
