Full Job Description Summary:
Queen City Farms is seeking a dedicated delivery driver and detail-oriented Farm Technician to join our growing team. This hybrid role will consist of driving deliveries and as a Farm Technician. The Farm Technician will play a crucial role in the daily operations of our vertical farm, ensuring the production of high-quality microgreens, leafy greens, and edible flowers. This position requires a strong work ethic, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of food safety.
Responsibilities:
Primary role is focused on deliveries with remaining hours as a farm technician.
Delivery:
Perform deliveries of harvested products to customers or distribution centers. Maintain a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Follow all traffic laws. Ensure timely and safe delivery of products while representing Queen City Farms professionally.
Production and Harvesting:
Harvest weekly crops according to established procedures. Operate and maintain basic harvesting machinery and soil mixing equipment. Create, clean, and dispose of harvested trays in a sanitary manner. Maintain accurate records of harvested crops and production data.
Environmental Control:
Water crops according to specified schedules and protocols. Monitor and adjust indoor climate controls to maintain optimal growing conditions (temperature, humidity, etc.).
Physical Tasks:
Lift and carry up to 60 pounds regularly. Stand for extended periods of time. Work in a humid and warm environment. Must be comfortable using small step ladders.
Sanitation and Food Safety:
Adhere to strict sanitation and food safety guidelines. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the entire farm. Mopping, sanitizing, or cleaning the water rigs will be required. Follow all company policies regarding hygiene and contamination prevention.
Teamwork and Communication:
Work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Communicate clearly and effectively with supervisors and colleagues. Follow direction.
Detail Orientation:
Maintain accurate records. Follow detailed harvesting and growing procedures.
Qualifications:
Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds regularly. Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to work in a humid and warm environment. Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills. Ability to follow instructions and procedures. Reliable and punctual. Prior farming or production experience is a plus.
Work Schedule:
Minimum 40 hours per week, 5 days per week. Rotating weekend schedule, as needed. Must be available to work flexible hours as needed. Holiday coverage as needed. Overtime available as needed.
Probationary Period:
90-day probationary period.
