Job Description
Overview We are seeking an experienced and dependable Furniture Delivery Driver to join our team. This position involves preparing, loading, transporting, delivering, and setting up furniture in customers' homes. The driver will work with a delivery helper and must take great care to prevent damage to the furniture, delivery truck, and customers' homes. The ideal candidate will have box-truck driving experience, strong furniture-handling skills, and the ability to communicate professionally with customers, store employees, and management. Responsibilities Open, inspect, and prepare furniture for delivery before loading. Confirm that furniture is complete, in good condition, and ready for delivery. Properly load and secure furniture in a 25-foot box truck to prevent damage during transportation. Inspect the truck and delivery equipment before beginning the route. Drive safely and follow all applicable traffic and DOT regulations. Complete deliveries in the pre-routed order provided. Follow delivery time windows established through DispatchTrack and by office staff. Work with office personnel to accommodate customers' delivery needs whenever reasonably possible. Carry furniture with a helper into and out of customers' homes. Assemble, install, and set up furniture according to company and manufacturer requirements. Move existing furniture out of the way when necessary to complete a delivery. Protect floors, walls, doorways, furniture, and other property throughout the delivery and setup process. Obtain customer approval and required documentation after completing each delivery. Communicate delays, delivery problems, damage, or other concerns promptly to the office. Maintain a professional and courteous attitude when interacting with retail customers, store personnel, warehouse employees, and management. Move furniture between the retail store, warehouse, and other locations as directed. Keep the truck, equipment, and work areas clean and organized. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Previous experience driving a box truck is required. Ability to safely operate a 25-foot box truck. Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Valid DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate, commonly called a DOT medical card, or the ability to obtain one for deliveries outside Ohio. Ability to meet all applicable company insurance and DOT requirements. Ability to safely lift, carry, maneuver, and install heavy furniture while working with a helper. Ability to navigate stairs, narrow hallways, doorways, and other residential delivery conditions. Experience loading, securing, delivering, assembling, or installing furniture is strongly preferred. Ability to follow delivery routes, schedules, instructions, and customer time windows. Basic ability to use a smartphone or delivery-routing application such as DispatchTrack. Dependable attendance and punctuality. Strong customer-service and communication skills. Professional appearance and conduct. Ability to work carefully and efficiently with minimal supervision. Familiarity with mobile devices for route navigation and communication during deliveries.
