About the Opportunity This is an open position with First Energy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. This is a full-time, on-site position located in Mayfield, OH. Laboratory Technician, Fire and Safety Services Seeking a Laboratory Technician for our fire extinguisher and safety services group supporting FirstEnergy facilities. Responsibilities include servicing, repairing and maintaining portable fire equipment and related safety equipment in our corporate facilities. This includes the ability to perform inspections and identify non-conformance issues. This role ensures safe, compliant, and timely inspection, maintenance and testing related to fire protection and life safety equipment across operating companies, fossil generating plants, substations, and company vehicles. Participates with other team members to provide efficient and reliable service to internal customers. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent with 2 years of industry experience preferred. Valid driver license. Experienced in the recharging and maintenance of stored pressure dry chemical and water- based extinguishers preferred. Experienced in the performance of monthly inspections of fire extinguishers and related safety equipment preferred. Capable of lifting 50 pounds. Capable of interacting with customers and co-workers in a professional manner. Follow all company policies, procedures, and core values. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office. Principle Accountabilities Understanding the company safety program and adherence to all safety rules and regulations. Actively demonstrating a commitment to the safety culture at FirstEnergy. Ensures that equipment is maintained to regulatory standards on a cyclical basis. Managing time and priorities and updating management on work in progress, along with other applicable status updates. Maintaining an organized warehouse with extinguishers and other safety equipment ready for use. Communicates with all levels of leadership regarding safety inspections and inventory of safety equipment. Works daily in various computer systems to verify accuracy of inspections and maintenance data for life and safety equipment. Travel within FirstEnergy operating territories to support department needs. Upon completion of training being able to perform hazard responder duties for callouts to assist during storm restoration work. Understanding the company safety program and adherence to all safety rules and regulations. Actively demonstrating a commitment to the safety culture at FirstEnergy. Ensures that equipment is maintained to regulatory standards on a cyclical basis. Maintaining an organized warehouse with extinguishers and other safety equipment ready for use. Communicates with leadership regarding safety inspections and inventory of safety equipment.
