Job Description

Job Summary The Durable Medical Equipment Delivery Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and professional delivery, pickup, setup, and retrieval of durable medical equipment (DME) for customers in their homes and other designated locations. This position requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to safely handle and transport medical equipment. The Delivery Driver will educate customers and caregivers on the basic operation and proper use of equipment, ensure equipment is properly set up, and confirm that customers understand applicable instructions. The Delivery Driver is also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the delivery vehicle and equipment, assisting with inventory and warehouse duties, processing delivery and pickup documentation, and supporting general operations as needed. Essential Job Responsibilities Safely and efficiently deliver durable medical equipment and supplies to customers, facilities, and other designated locations. Pick up rental equipment and other equipment scheduled for retrieval. Load, unload, transport, and properly secure medical equipment and supplies. Set up and position equipment in the customer's home or designated location as required. Provide customers and caregivers with basic instruction on the proper use, care, and operation of equipment. Confirm that customers receive the correct equipment and supplies according to the delivery order. Obtain required signatures and accurately complete delivery, pickup, rental, and other required documentation. Communicate professionally with customers, caregivers, referral sources, healthcare facilities, and coworkers. Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor while representing the company in the community. Contact customers regarding delivery schedules, arrival times, or other delivery-related matters. Inspect equipment upon pickup and report damage, missing components, or other issues. Clean, sanitize, inspect, and prepare returned rental equipment according to company procedures. Assist with basic equipment troubleshooting and report equipment issues requiring repair or further evaluation. Maintain an organized and accurate inventory of equipment and supplies in the delivery vehicle and warehouse. Load vehicles in an organized manner to protect equipment and maximize efficiency. Perform routine vehicle checks and promptly report maintenance, safety, or mechanical concerns. Maintain the cleanliness and professional appearance of the company vehicle. Follow all company safety procedures and applicable traffic and transportation laws. Maintain customer confidentiality and follow applicable company policies and procedures. Assist with warehouse, stocking, cleaning, and other operational duties as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Experience High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience in delivery, customer service, healthcare, medical equipment, warehouse, or a related field preferred. Experience handling or delivering large or specialized equipment is beneficial. Previous experience in a durable medical equipment facility is preferred but not required. Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record required. Ability to operate a company vehicle safely and responsibly. Ability to use delivery schedules, electronic devices, GPS/navigation systems, and company software. Ability to accurately complete electronic or paper delivery documentation. Ability to learn the proper operation, care, and basic troubleshooting of DME products. Ability to safely operate equipment used for loading, unloading, and moving medical equipment. Physical Requirements This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs, and other physical movements associated with delivering and handling medical equipment. The employee must be able to safely lift, carry, push, pull, load, and unload medical equipment weighing up to 50 pounds , with or without reasonable accommodation. The position may require handling heavier equipment with the assistance of another employee or appropriate equipment. Physical activity associated with delivery, equipment handling, loading/unloading, and setup may be required approximately 50-75% of the workday , depending on business needs. The position also requires the ability to sit for extended periods while operating a company vehicle and to operate a computer, smartphone, telephone, and other office equipment as needed. The employee may be required to enter customers' homes and navigate stairs, uneven surfaces, tight spaces, and other environments associated with residential deliveries. Work Environment Regular travel throughout the company's designated service area. Frequent interaction with customers in their homes, healthcare facilities, and other locations. Exposure to varying weather and road conditions. Regular handling and transportation of medical equipment and supplies. Work may involve varying schedules based on customer delivery and pickup needs. Employee is expected to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while representing the company.
