A Sales Delivery Driver drives a truck or other vehicle over established routes or within an established territory and sells or delivers goods, such as food products, including restaurant take-out items, or pick up or deliver items such as commercial laundry. May also take orders, collect payment, or stock merchandise at point of delivery. Includes newspaper delivery drivers. Excludes gig economy drivers.
Position Summary This is a combined driving and service role. In addition to safely operating a propane bobtail truck to deliver propane to customer tanks, the position handles tank set work — installing, setting, and connecting propane tanks at customer sites — along with general tank service and upkeep such as surface prep, scraping, sanding, and painting. The role requires strict adherence to

regulations and propane industry safety standards (NFPA 58), along with a willingness to do physical, hands-on outdoor work. Key Responsibilities — Delivery Safely operate a propane bobtail truck to deliver propane to residential and commercial customer tanks along scheduled routes. Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs). Connect hoses, read tank gauges, and fill customer tanks to proper levels while checking for leaks and following safe-handling procedures. Follow all applicable

regulations and NFPA 58 propane safety standards during transport, delivery, and equipment handling. Accurately complete delivery tickets, mileage logs, and other required paperwork or electronic records. Comply with company policies, hours-of-service rules, and load securement requirements. Participate in the company's FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse program, including pre-employment and random testing. Key Responsibilities — Tank Setting & Service Set and install propane tanks at customer sites, including positioning, leveling, and anchoring tanks per code and manufacturer specifications. Connect and pressure-test piping, regulators, and fittings on new and existing tank installations. Perform routine tank service and upkeep, including scraping, sanding, surface prep, and painting tanks to prevent rust and maintain appearance. Inspect tanks, valves, and fittings for leaks, corrosion, or damage and report or address issues as directed. Assist with tank exchanges, relocations, and removals as needed. Perform miscellaneous tank and equipment maintenance and other duties as assigned by the owner/operator. General Responsibilities Communicate professionally and courteously with customers; answer basic questions and escalate issues as needed. Immediately report any vehicle or equipment defects, leaks, spills, or safety concerns to the owner/operator. Keep the delivery vehicle, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and in good working order. Required Qualifications Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B or higher. Hazardous Materials (H) endorsement — required for transporting propane. Tank Vehicle (N) endorsement — required (or combined Tanker/Hazmat "X" endorsement). Must pass the TSA background check and fingerprinting required to obtain/maintain the hazmat endorsement. Current DOT medical certificate (valid DOT physical) confirming physical qualification to drive a commercial motor vehicle. Clean driving record; must meet company and insurance carrier standards for a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check. Must pass a pre-employment DOT drug test and be enrolled in the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse; subject to random testing per 49 CFR Part 382. Minimum age 21. Ability to perform physical labor including lifting, carrying, and maneuvering tanks and equipment, and comfort using hand and power tools (scrapers, sanders, paint sprayers/brushes). Willingness and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including bending, kneeling, and working at ground level or on ladders around tanks. Strong attention to detail and an uncompromising commitment to safety. Reliable, punctual, and able to work a flexible part-time schedule, including added hours during peak winter demand. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience driving a bobtail, tanker, or other straight truck. Prior experience delivering propane or other bulk fuel products. Prior experience setting, installing, or servicing propane or other above-ground storage tanks. Experience with surface prep and painting (scraping, sanding, priming, spraying/brushing) on metal tanks or similar equipment. Basic mechanical aptitude with piping, fittings, and hand tools. Familiarity with rural delivery routes in Muskingum County or the surrounding area. Prior propane experience is a plus but not required — training will be provided. Working Conditions Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions, including cold, snow, and rain, especially during peak heating season. Physical demands include lifting and moving heavy tanks and equipment, climbing in and out of the vehicle, and extended standing, kneeling, or bending during tank service and painting work. Exposure to outdoor job-site conditions and to paint, primer, and solvent products used in tank refurbishment; appropriate PPE will be provided. Schedule may include early mornings, and occasional weekend availability during high-demand periods.
Pay:
$22.00 - $28.00 per hour Expected hours: 15.0 - 30.0 per week
