This position involves direct contact with small animals, reptiles, feeder insects, mice and rats. Applicants must be comfortable handling and caring for these animals humanely and responsibly. Responsibilities Feed, water and monitor animals daily Clean and sanitize cages, enclosures, containers and animal-care areas Handle feeder mice, rats, insects, reptiles and other small animals safely Observe animals for health or behavioral concerns and report problems promptly Receive shipments and put away animals, feeders, supplies and inventory Pick, pack and prepare customer orders accurately Label and organize orders for delivery Maintain clean, organized and sanitary warehouse and animal-care areas Rotate inventory and monitor food, bedding and animal-care supplies Assist with loading and unloading deliveries Follow all animal-care, sanitation and workplace safety procedures Perform other warehouse and animal-care duties as needed Requirements Must be comfortable working with live animals, including reptiles, feeder insects, mice and rats Must treat every animal humanely and respectfully Dependable, punctual and able to follow detailed instructions Comfortable cleaning cages and handling animal waste Able to work independently and as part of a small team Able to stand, bend and move throughout the shift Able to lift and carry warehouse products and supplies safely Good organizational skills and attention to detail Reliable transportation to North Ridgeville Previous animal-care, pet-store, warehouse or order-packing experience is helpful but not required Important This is a hands-on animal-care and warehouse position. Applicants who are uncomfortable handling reptiles, insects, mice, rats or other small animals should not apply.
