Logistics Manager General Summary:
The Route and Delivery Driver, under the general direction of the department manager, distributes, receives, and transports library materials, supplies, equipment and furniture to countywide CCPL branches. Route and Delivery Drivers are also expected to assist with routing in-transit materials through Support Services' central automatic materials handler. In addition, this position provides support with shipping, receiving and mail processing.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Delivers, receives and distributes library materials, supplies, equipment, and furniture to CCPL branches.
  • Operates delivery vehicles safely and efficiently while loading, unloading, and transporting materials between library locations.
  • Ensures library vehicles are properly serviced, maintained, fueled, and kept in safe operating condition.
  • Processes and distributes incoming and outgoing mail to appropriate library locations and departments.
  • Maintains accurate records and documentation related to deliveries, shipments, vehicle use, and assigned logistics activities.
  • Responds to delivery and logistics requests in a timely, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Works cooperatively with library staff to coordinate deliveries, pickups, and other logistical needs.
  • Performs assigned duties independently while maintaining established schedules, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Maintains flexibility to assume additional responsibilities and accommodate changing schedules and operational needs.

  • Ability to use tact, courtesy and good judgement
  • Ability to communicate effectively and present ideas orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • High School graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Must have a valid South Carolina driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Must provide a copy of driving record (available via the DMV's website) with application submission.
  • Minimum of three (3) years related delivery driving experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite and possess the ability to learn and use new technology.
  • Must be able to lift and carry library materials including books, AV equipment, program materials and maneuver loaded book carts weighing approximately fifty (50) to one hundred (100) pounds.
Benefits and Compensation:
Charleston County Public Library offers a comprehensive benefits package which includes Health, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance, Paid Vacation and Sick Leave, Paid Holidays, 401k, and a Pension Plan. $35,900.80 - $40,435.20 annually commensurate with education and experience.
