Job Summary The Bread Route Delivery Driver (Non-CDL) is a full-time, on-site role based in Richmond, VA, responsible for delivering bread and bakery products to assigned customers along an established route. Day-to-day tasks include loading products onto the delivery vehicle, verifying orders, and ensuring accurate and timely deliveries to stores, restaurants, and other accounts. The driver will interact with customers, confirm delivery quantities, collect signatures, process returns, and maintain clear records of deliveries and inventory. The role also involves rotating and stocking products on shelves as requested, keeping the vehicle clean and organized, and following all safety and traffic regulations. The driver may assist with basic sales activities such as identifying additional product needs, communicating promotions, and fostering positive customer relationships. Responsibilities Safely operate a commercial vehicle to deliver bakery products along assigned routes within Richmond,, adhering to all DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. Manage daily route driving efficiently while maintaining accurate delivery schedules. Load and unload products with proper lifting techniques, ensuring safe handling practices for heavy items. Build lasting customer relationships through friendly communication and professional service at retail stores and client locations. Conduct merchandising activities by organizing products on shelves and ensuring proper product presentation. Perform routine vehicle inspections, report maintenance needs, and ensure compliance with automobile transportation standards. Upsell additional products or services when appropriate to enhance customer satisfaction and sales performance. Maintain detailed records of deliveries, route logs, and client interactions to support organizational efficiency. Skills Strong customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and maintain professional relationships with clients. Experience or comfort with basic equipment handling, including forklift operation or similar warehouse tools, and willingness to follow safety procedures. Ability to learn and follow route processes, participate in training, and adapt to updated delivery procedures or systems. Basic sales awareness, with the ability to recognize customer needs, support product placements, and discuss order adjustments when appropriate. Familiarity with food & beverage handling standards, including product rotation, cleanliness, and adherence to quality guidelines. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and ability to operate a non-CDL delivery vehicle for extended periods. Ability to lift, carry, and move product cases repeatedly, and work in varying weather and traffic conditions. Reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail in managing delivery paperwork, inventory counts, and route schedules.
