Job Description

Job Title:
Home Daily Sanitation Engineer- Operator of Commercial Vehicle (CDL Class B w/ Air Brakes) Reports to:
Operations Superintendent Job Purpose:
Driver provides safe, efficient, and courteous collection and transportation of recyclables & refuse within surrounding communities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Operates single and/or dual axle Class B vehicle in a safe, efficient, and courteous manner; involving the collecting, transporting and off-loading of waste and recyclables from residences, businesses and other facilities within the surrounding communities. Operates equipment in a respectful manner that prevents damage and unnecessary wear to vehicles and mechanisms. Perform daily safety and maintenance checks to ensure equipment is safe and secure. Follows all policies and procedures including accurate record keeping with office paperwork. Learns safety protocols and works in a safe manner. Follows all state and federal driving laws.
Qualifications:
Education :
Ideal candidate has valid Class B with Air Brake endorsement.
Experience :
No experience required! Will train candidate for skill if has other considerable qualifications.
Skills :
Drives in a safe and defensive manner with public motorists, ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with fellow co-workers and team leads. Ideal candidate has innate sense of spatial positioning of truck within its surroundings. Recruit should also have a good motor vehicle record as this is a driving position.
Abilities :
Ability to be safe and constantly aware of surroundings, follows policies/procedures as directed, record daily information as needed. Communicate effectively and work as part of a team as needed.
Personal Characteristics :
Even temperament, ability to adapt to changes, treats others fairly and respectfully, ability to follow direction while utilizing common sense in safety sensitive situations, also required to read and speak
English Physical Requirements:
90% of the time involves repeated truck driving; including stopping, backing, lifting (with truck automation), and unloading (with truck automation). All functions require safety due diligence. There can be challenging environments for some individuals, including exposure to dirt, noise, odors, and adverse weather. Lastly-Some routes may require repeated lifting of material weighing 70 pounds, or moving wheeled containers that can weigh hundreds of pounds.
Working Environment :
The work environment varies based on position and time of year. It can include repeatedly climbing in and out of a truck, operating in busy traffic and also in isolated/ rural areas. As mentioned previously - there is exposure to dirt, noise, and odors. This position also operates in various weather conditions throughout the year. Examples- warm and cold weather, rain, sleet, snow, wind, etc.
