A Sales Delivery Driver drives a truck or other vehicle over established routes or within an established territory and sells or delivers goods, such as food products, including restaurant take-out items, or pick up or deliver items such as commercial laundry. May also take orders, collect payment, or stock merchandise at point of delivery. Includes newspaper delivery drivers. Excludes gig economy drivers.
21 years of age or older High School Diploma or GED required Valid driver's license a must Prior customer service experience Delivery, and/or moving experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate Ability to work 5 days a week schedule Must have the ability to repetitively lift, pull and push 50+ pounds, reach above head height, stand, walk, kneel, bend, and reach. Maintain a professional appearance and attitude Ability to work a flexible daily schedule based on customer and company needs. some late nights Able to influence people in positive ways for mutual benefit.
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
CDL and/or straight truck driving experience Knowledge of the furniture and mattress industry
Essential Functions:
Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to: Daily maintenance, cleaning, and safety checks on delivery vehicles. Check to make sure that delivery team has all tools needed for that day's work, along with proper touch-up, and cleaning items. Loading, delivery, and set-up of customer orders Following delivery notes, and keeping in contact with customer and store of any delays or discrepancies on deliveries. Greeting each customer with a smile and introducing both yourself and your delivery partner Collection of any money due for a delivery prior to the delivery of furniture to customer home. Treating each customer, their property, and their items with utmost respect. Inspection of each piece of furniture before delivery of item into customer's home. Set up and delivery of items per customer and factory specifications. Notification to store of any discrepancies in regard to customer order or request that are not noted on delivery receipt. Final inspection, cleaning, and touch up product in customer home: All wood pieces to be dusted, looked over, and touched up; all reclining furniture needs to be tested to ensure proper function of items; all packing material, tools, and blankets need to be removed from the home. Immediate notification of any damage of furniture or property to the store, as well as communicating any such damage to customer. Referral to any questions concerning customer items or construction to store personnel. Collection of signature on delivery receipt to ensure that we have proper proof of delivery and notation of any damage or follow-up required by warehouse manager on delivery receipt. Unloading of any undeliverable items and placement of those items to locations noted in delivery/pickup receipt. Communication of any issues regarding delivery or vehicle to warehouse manager both verbally and via written form. Turning in the vehicle inspection report, along with all fuel receipts at the end of the day.
