USCG Licensed Captain (First and/or Second) - Multi-Day Dive Boat Join the Crew of the Peace The Peace is seeking a professional, safety-minded USCG Licensed Captain to operate one of Southern California's premier liveaboard dive boats. We specialize in multi-day dive expeditions to the Channel Islands National Park and surrounding waters, serving recreational scuba divers, freedivers, underwater photographers, and ocean enthusiasts. This captain will work closely with our first captain on some or most of our trips. Captains should be prepared to work multi-day trips and be available any day of the week. Schedule is set weeks to months in advance. Captains also split tips with the rest of the crew which averages an additional $100-$200 per day. Responsibilities Safely operate a USCG-inspected passenger vessel. With the assistance of the other captain and dive crew, plan voyages based on weather, sea conditions, and customer activities. Lead and supervise crew members during all vessel operations. Maintain compliance with all USCG regulations and company safety procedures. Coordinate with dive staff to support safe diving operations. Observe, adapt, and then report mechanical concerns. Deliver outstanding customer service while maintaining a professional atmosphere onboard. Qualifications Current
USCG 100
Ton Near Coastal Master License or better Strong seamanship and boat handling skills. Excellent leadership and communication skills. Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure. Preference given for Experience operating overnight passenger vessels Knowledge of the Channel Islands marine environment Captains who could also operate as a first captain Dive industry certifications or expertise Current first aid/CPR Mechanical knowledge Former military and/or first responder are greatly encouraged to apply Schedule Multi-day trips ranging from 2-5 days. Flexible schedule based on trip calendar. Competitive compensation based on experience.
