Port Engineer

Job Description

Description:
The Port Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and operation of the inland towing vessels within the company's fleet. This role requires a strong understanding of marine engineering, vessel systems, and regulatory compliance to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the fleet. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our assets.
Requirements:
Oversee the maintenance and repair of inland towing vessels, including engines, propulsion systems, electrical systems, and auxiliary equipment Execute established preventive maintenance programs to ensure the reliability and availability of our fleet Coordinate and supervise vessel dry-dockings, repairs, and major overhauls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards Manage and track vessel maintenance schedules, work orders, and spare parts inventory to optimize vessel availability and minimize downtime Conduct regular inspections of vessels to identify maintenance needs and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements Collaborate with the operations team to address technical issues and provide engineering support for vessel operations Review and approve technical specifications for vessel repairs and modifications, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices Provide technical guidance and support to vessel crews and maintenance staff to ensure safe and reliable vessel operation Monitor and analyze vessel performance data to identify opportunities for operational improvements and efficiency gains Stay updated on industry developments, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies to recommend and implement best practices within the fleet Demonstrates strong technology proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office TWIC Card Familiarity with Coast Guard and Subchapter M regulations preferred
