Job Description

Vessel Fabrication Supervisor Position Summary The Vessel Fabrication Supervisor is responsible for leading welders and fitters in the fabrication of pressure vessels and related equipment. This position oversees daily fabrication activities, assigns manpower, coordinates workflow, and ensures vessels are fabricated safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, approved welding procedures, ASME requirements, and company quality standards. The supervisor works closely with Engineering and Quality teams to resolve technical issues, maintain fabrication quality, and ensure production schedules and deadlines are met. Key Responsibilities Supervise welders, fitters, and other fabrication personnel involved in pressure vessel fabrication. Assign daily work, manpower, and priorities based on production schedules and project requirements. Review and communicate engineering drawings, specifications, weld symbols, and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) with fabrication personnel. Monitor vessel fitting, welding, layout, and dimensional accuracy throughout the fabrication process. Ensure fabrication activities comply with applicable ASME requirements, approved welding procedures, company standards, and HSE requirements. Inspect fit-ups, weld preparation, component alignment, and completed vessels for conformance with drawings and specifications. Coordinate materials, tooling, equipment, and workflow to maintain efficient production. Work closely with Engineering and Quality to resolve drawing issues, fabrication concerns, weld quality issues, and nonconformances. Monitor production progress, workmanship, productivity, attendance, and adherence to established deadlines. Identify production bottlenecks and coordinate corrective actions to keep projects on schedule. Train, coach, and develop welders and fitters on fabrication practices, quality expectations, and safe work procedures. Promote a strong safety culture and ensure employees follow HSE policies, PPE requirements, and safe work practices. Maintain an organized and productive fabrication area. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. 3+ years of experience in pressure vessel fabrication, welding, or fitting. Previous supervisory or lead experience in a vessel fabrication or industrial manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of pressure vessel fabrication processes and structural/mechanical fitting. Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, weld symbols, and WPS requirements. Working knowledge of ASME code requirements applicable to pressure vessel fabrication. Understanding of welding processes, fit-up requirements, dimensional control, and fabrication quality. Experience coordinating with Engineering and Quality personnel. Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining production schedules and quality requirements. Technical Knowledge Pressure vessel fabrication Welding and fitting operations WPS and welding procedure requirements Engineering drawings and weld symbols ASME code requirements Vessel fit-up and dimensional inspection Material identification and traceability Production workflow and manpower planning Quality control and nonconformance resolution HSE requirements and safe fabrication practices Work Environment This position works in an industrial vessel fabrication environment with exposure to welding and cutting operations, heavy materials, overhead cranes, industrial equipment, elevated noise levels, and typical fabrication shop conditions. Work may occasionally require working at elevated heights or in confined spaces. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, stoop, and reach as required. Ability to work at elevated heights and in confined spaces when necessary. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds frequently. Ability to work around welding, fabrication, and industrial equipment. Ability to wear required PPE and comply with all applicable safety requirements.
Pay:
$34.00 - $37.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 60.0 per week
