Marine Construction Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Tugboat Captain to support a long-term marine construction project on Lake Waco, TX . This position is expected to last at least one year and offers the opportunity to transition into a permanent role based on performance and project needs. The selected candidate will safely operate a 600-horsepower tugboat (Mug Tug) while pushing and maneuvering crane barges to support marine construction operations. The ideal candidate is a safety-focused professional with proven towing vessel experience and the required U.S. Coast Guard credentials. Responsibilities Safely operate a 600 HP tugboat (Mug Tug) on Lake Waco. Push, maneuver, and position crane barges to support marine construction activities. Perform pre-trip and post-trip vessel inspections. Maintain safe vessel operations while complying with all U.S. Coast Guard regulations and company safety policies. Coordinate with project supervisors, crane operators, and marine crews to ensure efficient daily operations. Monitor weather and water conditions to ensure safe navigation. Complete vessel logs, inspections, and operational documentation. Report mechanical issues and coordinate routine vessel maintenance. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment aboard the vessel. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of tugboat towing experience . Valid USCG Master of Towing Vessels Credential or Master's License with Towing Endorsement . Current TWIC Card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential). Strong knowledge of inland waterway navigation and towing operations. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Ability to work independently while maintaining a strong commitment to safety.
