As a Tugboat Captain, you will be responsible for safely maneuvering tugboats to assist larger vessels and barges, ensuring compliance with maritime safety procedures and regulations. Your leadership will be vital in managing crew members, overseeing vessel maintenance, and executing complex water transportation tasks with precision and confidence. This role offers an exciting opportunity to apply your maritime expertise in a dynamic environment, ensuring efficient and safe operations at all times. Duties Operate tugboats safely and efficiently, navigating using marine navigation systems and maritime piloting techniques Manage and supervise crew members, fostering effective communication and teamwork in line with maritime crew communication standards Oversee vessel management including routine maintenance, mechanical repairs, and ensuring water transportation equipment is functioning optimally Execute heavy lifting operations using rigging equipment while adhering to safety protocols for manual handling Ensure compliance with US Coast Guard (USCG) regulations and maritime safety procedures during all operations Conduct vessel inspections, monitor water transportation equipment, and coordinate vessel maintenance schedules Lead crew management efforts, managing teams as a ship supervisor to ensure operational excellence and safety standards are maintained Requirements Proven experience in water transportation industry roles with strong vessel handling skills Extensive knowledge of USCG regulations, maritime safety procedures, and marine navigation systems Demonstrated ability to operate boats confidently, including rigging, heavy lifting, and manual handling tasks Strong mechanical knowledge related to vessel maintenance and water transportation equipment Experience managing teams in a maritime environment, including crew communication and leadership as a ship supervisor Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as heavy lifting and manual handling while maintaining safety standards Must have all valid credentials.
Master of Towing, TWIC Card, and Medical Certificate Pay:
From $800.00 per day
