Key Duties & Responsibilities Our Courtland, Alabama facility has an immediate opportunity for a Class A Vehicle Operator. In this role, you will operate a truck tractor and trailer in the local region, and infrequently drive over the road for mission support. In addition, may operate a box truck and a forklift as needed. Operates company equipment to include vans, stake trucks and class A and B commercial motor vehicles to transport a wide variety of parts, materials, flight hardware, equipment, tools, components, calibrated instruments, classified hardware, haz-mat, assembled products, between various company facilities, test sites, customer, sub-contractor and vendor locations.
- When operating Class A commercial motor vehicles, uses knowledge and training to select appropriate company owned trailer to include RGN, various ramp, flatbed, step deck, double drop, dry van, temperature controlled, steerable and other specialty trailers to transport various cargo.
- Receives written or oral instructions, plans most efficient and safest manner of arranging and properly securing load.
- Determines best route from starting point to destination; handles DOT paperwork/logbooks, secures permits, and performs thorough pre/post-trip inspections .
- Load/unload trailers and ensures compliance with
DOT / FMCSA / 49
CFR, state and local laws, and company policy. ## Basic Qualifications Active Class A CDL with clean driving record- Forklift Experience
- Material handling and load securement experience
- Proficient in using handheld scanners and computers/laptops
- Experience with a variety of trailers (Flat Bed, Van, RGN, Specialty, etc)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance ## Desired Skills
- Active security clearance
- Haz-mat endorsement
- Pilot / escort license
- Team Drive experience
- In-depth knowledge of all DOT, 49
CFR and FMCSA Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range:
$42700.00- $79300.
