At Downtown Rescue Mission, our mission is to help change lives through the power of work. We serve our community by providing employment development services. Our programs are supported with profits generated through the sale of donated goods in our Retail Stores. We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Driver to support our Thrift Stores. The Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient pickup and delivery of donated goods, ensuring that items reach our retail stores and donation centers in good condition. This role is vital in supporting our mission, serving our donors, and helping generate resources that change lives. The ability to work effectively as part of a team with a friendly and positive attitude is essential. This position provides opportunities for growth, teamwork, and personal development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Safely operate company trucks to pick up donations from homes, businesses, and donation sites. Load and unload donated goods with care, ensuring items are handled properly. Provide world-class customer service by assisting donors with professionalism, courtesy, and respect. Maintain accurate records of pickups, deliveries, mileage, and fuel usage. Inspect vehicles daily and report any maintenance or safety concerns promptly. Assist warehouse or store teams with sorting and organizing donated items when needed. Demonstrate teamwork and cooperation with staff, volunteers, and donors. Ensure adherence to DRM's safety, operational, and organizational policies. Act as a representative of DRM's mission in the community, promoting goodwill and donor satisfaction.
QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record. High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience driving large trucks, delivery vehicles, or in a transportation role preferred. Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs. frequently. Strong customer service and communication skills. Detail-oriented with the ability to follow schedules and procedures accurately. Positive work history with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Problem-solving skills and a proactive, self-starter attitude. Commitment to DRM mission and values.
