Job Description
Role and Core Function:
- This position is for Local Driver for the transportation and handling of International Poultry Breeders AR Inc. product to growers and from growers, it requires accuracy and timeliness of all job functions.Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Assist in the packing and/or re-packaging of items to ensure they are properly prepared for transportation. Inspect items being shipped for proper packaging as well as damage at each location. Maintain a truck log, according to state and federal regulations. Maintain telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions. Perform pre-trip and post-trip truck trailer and moffet inspections as well as other equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil and water levels. Perform emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, spark plugs etc… Positions any necessary blocks, ties and or ropes to secure cargo during transit. Check to make sure correct feed and amount is loaded and unloaded at farm Plan out the best route by checking road conditions and access before beginning each haul. Monitor the temperature of the goods and environment when transporting a ventilated trailer/box truck and immediately report any issues to the assigned supervisor. Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards. Perform other functions as assigned from time to time. Follow the company Biosecurity Program. Any and all other duties assigned by Managers.EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or GED required.SPECIALISED TECHNIQUES/KNOWLEDGE
Class A CDL (Commercial Driver's License) Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors, customers and general public Ability to communicate effectively Ability to work independently Maintain a good working knowledge of packing and shipping materials and products of all shapes, sizes and weights Basic Knowledge of diesel engines and the operation of refrigerated or ventilated trailersGENERAL COMPETENCIES
Have superior hearing and eyesight as well as full and normal use of both arms and legs Must be able to manually lift, load and move pallets, equipment and other items weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be physically and legally able to operate heavy machinery including Forklift's and Pallet Jack's Ability to sit upright while remaining aware and alert for long periods of time. Must pass DOT physicalPay:
