Yard Hostler / Terminal Truck Operator (CDL Required) Company Overview We operate a professional yard hostling service specializing in the efficient movement of 53-foot trailers within logistics and distribution facilities. Our team uses terminal trucks (yard tractors) to keep freight flowing smoothly by spotting trailers at dock doors and organizing the yard. Job Summary We are seeking reliable CDL holders to operate terminal trucks and move 53-foot trailers around the facility. Primary duties include backing trailers into dock doors and relocating them throughout the yard to support daily operations. Key Responsibilities Operate terminal trucks (yard goats / spotter trucks) to move 53-foot trailers safely and efficiently Back trailers into designated dock doors with precision Pull trailers from docks and stage them in the yard Position and organize trailers according to facility needs and workflow Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment Follow all safety protocols, company procedures, and facility rules Communicate clearly with supervisors, dock personnel, and other team members Maintain accurate records of trailer movements as required Keep the work area clean and report any equipment or safety issues promptly Requirements Valid Class A CDL (required) Ability to operate terminal trucks / yard tractors (training is provided) Experience backing 53-foot trailers preferred (training available for the right candidate) Strong attention to detail and spatial awareness Ability to work in a fast-paced yard environment in various weather conditions Reliable attendance and professional attitude Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, or overtime as needed (schedule details to be confirmed) Preferred Qualifications Previous yard hostling, spotting, or terminal tractor experience Familiarity with warehouse or distribution center operations Clean driving record Physical Requirements Ability to climb in and out of the terminal truck repeatedly Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions Ability to perform visual inspections and communicate clearly What We Offer Competitive pay Steady work in a specialized, high-demand role Opportunity to work with modern terminal equipment Supportive team environment focused on safety and efficiency
