Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and versatile Tow Truck Driver/Mechanic to join our team! This energetic role combines the responsibilities of safely operating tow trucks to recover and transport vehicles with performing essential mechanical repairs and diagnostics. As a key player in our operations, you will ensure vehicles are recovered efficiently, securely loaded onto tow trucks, and properly maintained. Your mechanical expertise and strong customer service skills will help us deliver outstanding service while maintaining safety standards on every job. Duties Safely operate tow trucks, including flatbed and vehicle recovery towing units, to transport vehicles from accident sites or breakdown locations. Perform basic vehicle troubleshooting, minor mechanical repairs, and automotive diagnostics to ensure vehicles are operational or ready for transport. Secure vehicles onto tow trucks following cargo securement protocols to prevent damage during transit. Conduct safe vehicle loading onto tow trucks, ensuring proper balance and adherence to safety standards. Assist with vehicle recovery operations, including accident scene management and vehicle retrieval from difficult or tight spots. Maintain detailed records of all towing activities, repairs performed, and vehicle conditions. Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with clients, explaining procedures, and ensuring their satisfaction throughout the process. Qualifications Proven experience as a mechanic with strong automotive repair skills; familiarity with automotive diagnostics and basic troubleshooting is essential. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record; experience driving commercial trucks with manual transmissions preferred. Knowledge of cargo securement protocols and safe vehicle loading techniques for tow trucks. Hands-on experience operating flatbed tow trucks and vehicle recovery equipment. Ability to perform minor mechanical repairs on various vehicle types, including truck drivers' mechanics. Strong mechanical knowledge combined with problem-solving skills to diagnose issues quickly and accurately. Excellent conflict management skills to handle challenging situations professionally and calmly. Physical ability to load/unload vehicles safely and perform manual tasks in various weather conditions.
