Duties Operate commercial vehicles such as tractor-trailers, refrigerated units, and other specialized trucks to transport goods safely and on schedule. Load, secure, and unload cargo, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage during transit. Plan and navigate delivery routes efficiently while adhering to traffic laws and company guidelines. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and report any mechanical issues. Maintain accurate records, including delivery logs, mileage, fuel usage, and inspection reports. Coordinate with dispatchers and customers to manage pickup and delivery timelines. Transport a variety of freight, including general goods, temperature-controlled items, and specialized loads as required. Skills Strong knowledge of commercial driving practices, safety standards, and regulatory compliance. Ability to operate different types of trucks, including manual transmission and specialized equipment. Competence in cargo handling and securement techniques for various load types. Solid organizational and time-management skills for meeting delivery schedules. Attention to detail in vehicle inspections and documentation. Problem-solving abilities to handle route changes, delays, or on-road challenges. Clear and professional communication skills for working with dispatch teams and clients.
