Overview We are seeking a dedicated and professional Driver to provide safe, reliable transportation services for residents at an assisted living facility. This temporary position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the well-being and independence of seniors by ensuring their timely and comfortable travel to medical appointments, recreational activities, and community outings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to safety, excellent customer service skills, and experience in operating various types of passenger vehicles. This role is essential in supporting the facility's mission to promote a caring and supportive environment for its residents. Responsibilities Safely operate designated vehicles, including vans and transit buses, in accordance with traffic laws and transportation safety regulations. Assist residents with wheelchair boarding and disembarking, ensuring their comfort and safety during transit. Follow emergency response procedures during transportation incidents, including first aid and CPR when necessary. Maintain vehicle cleanliness, perform routine inspections, and report any mechanical issues promptly to ensure optimal safety standards. Communicate effectively with residents, staff, and external agencies to coordinate schedules and address transportation needs efficiently. Adhere to all traffic laws, vehicle codes, and school or transit bus driving policies while managing quick responses to traffic changes or road conditions. Provide exceptional customer service by creating a welcoming environment, managing behavior professionally, and ensuring passenger safety at all times. Assist with heavy lifting when necessary for loading or unloading mobility aids or personal belongings of residents. Experience Proven experience in bus driving, commercial driving, or transit bus operation within a senior care or assisted living setting preferred. Knowledge of transportation safety regulations, traffic laws, and emergency response procedures for transportation is required. Experience working with elderly populations or individuals with mobility challenges is highly desirable. Familiarity with wheelchair assistance techniques, behavior management strategies, and student discipline policies is advantageous. Multilingual abilities or bilingual skills are a plus for effective communication with diverse resident groups. Strong writing skills for documentation related to vehicle maintenance logs or incident reports are beneficial. Demonstrated ability to respond quickly to traffic changes while maintaining focus on passenger safety and comfort.
