Duties Safely operate Class B flatbed trucks to deliver freight across designated local routes, adhering to all DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) standards. Load and unload cargo efficiently using piggyback forklifts, ensuring proper securing of freight on flatbed trailers for safe transport. Navigate using GPS systems to follow optimized routes, managing delivery schedules with precision and professionalism. Transport various types of freight. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, checking for mechanical issues and ensuring compliance with DOT and safety standards. Maintain accurate delivery documentation, logs, and reports to ensure transparency and accountability throughout each shift. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate deliveries, resolve issues promptly, and provide excellent service. Skills Proven experience in commercial truck driving, particularly with flatbed or tractor-trailer trucks in local delivery settings. Knowledge of truck loading and unloading techniques, including freight handling for logistics cargo. Familiarity with GPS navigation tools and route planning for efficient route driving Skilled in manual transmission operation and manual handling of freight for secure load & unload procedures. Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) rules, and safety protocols related to commercial driving.
