CDL-A Truck Driver | Heavy Equipment Transportation Drive for a Growing Construction Company with Steady Work and Year-Round Employment Are you an experienced CDL-A driver looking for a role that offers variety, stability, and the opportunity to work with heavy equipment? Join our team and play a critical role in supporting construction projects throughout Iowa and the Midwest. As a CDL-A Truck Driver , you'll transport heavy equipment, materials, and construction assets to and from job sites while helping ensure projects stay on schedule. This is more than a driving position—you'll be a valued member of the operations team, assisting with equipment handling, transportation planning, and safe load securement. What You'll Do Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles, tractors, trailers, and heavy-haul equipment in compliance with DOT regulations. Transport construction equipment, pipe, materials, and jobsite assets throughout Iowa and the Midwest. Load, unload, and secure heavy equipment including excavators, directional drill equipment, backhoes, skid steers, forklifts, loaders, welders, augers, and related machinery. Conduct pre-trip, post-trip, and daily vehicle inspections. Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, hours-of-service requirements, permitting requirements, and company safety standards. Obtain permits and confirm gross vehicle weights for oversized and overweight loads. Complete required documentation including inspection reports, electronic logs, permits, delivery paperwork, receipts, and timecards. Operate heavy equipment when needed to assist with loading, unloading, and staging. Maintain organization and inventory within the pipeyard and equipment storage areas. Assist field crews with transportation logistics and equipment movement. Train and support team members on proper load securement, blocking, bracing, spotting, and equipment handling procedures. Communicate professionally with dispatchers, project managers, equipment operators, and customers. Maintain company equipment in clean, safe, and serviceable condition. Required Qualifications Valid Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement . Minimum of 3 years of CDL driving experience. Experience hauling heavy equipment, construction equipment, or oversized loads. Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, inspections, permits, logbooks, and hours-of-service requirements. Experience with load securement and transportation safety practices. Ability to safely load, unload, and transport heavy equipment. Strong commitment to safety, professionalism, and equipment care. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field. Preferred Qualifications Experience operating excavators, backhoes, skid steers, loaders, forklifts, or similar construction equipment. Experience in utility construction, underground construction, heavy civil construction, or transportation industries. Knowledge of oversized and overweight load permitting processes. Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and digital documentation systems. Previous heavy-haul, lowboy, or construction trucking experience. Strong communication and teamwork skills. What We're Looking For Clean and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Ability to lift, climb, bend, crawl, and perform physical job duties as needed. Comfortable climbing on and off trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment. Willingness to travel and stay overnight when project schedules require. Dependable, safety-minded, and customer-focused attitude. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Pleasant Hill, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45000.00 - $65000.00/yr.
