Skyline Transport is hiring a full-time NEMT Stretcher Driver for our Brandon location. This position performs non-emergency stretcher transportation throughout the Tampa Bay area, with wheelchair transportation performed as needed. This is a hands-on transportation position—not simply a driving role. Drivers assist with patient movement, loading and unloading, securement, transportation equipment, and communication with healthcare facilities and dispatch. Schedule flexibility is key to this role. There are no set shifts or guaranteed daily start/end times. Daily schedules vary based on transportation needs and are generally provided the afternoon before. Company vehicle and fuel are provided during scheduled shifts. Responsibilities Complete stretcher transports as the primary responsibility and wheelchair transports as assigned Safely transport passengers to hospitals, rehabilitation centers, dialysis facilities, medical appointments, residences, and other approved destinations Assist with patient movement, loading, unloading, and transfers using approved procedures Properly secure stretcher and wheelchair passengers Push and maneuver occupied stretchers and wheelchairs Operate wheelchair lifts, ramps, stretchers, and securement equipment Complete pre-trip/post-trip vehicle inspections and required trip documentation Maintain communication with dispatch throughout the workday Maintain a clean and professional company vehicle Provide professional and respectful service to patients, families, caregivers, and facility staff Follow company safety, confidentiality, and transportation procedures Perform other duties as assigned Minimum Requirements Must be at least 25 years old to meet company commercial auto insurance eligibility requirements Minimum 1 year of professional driving experience Valid driver's license and acceptable driving history Reliable transportation to and from our Brandon office Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate Ability to successfully complete required pre-employment screening Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation Effective spoken and written English communication skills Dependable, punctual, and able to work a flexible transportation schedule Candidates located within approximately 30 minutes of our Brandon office are preferred. Previous NEMT, stretcher, wheelchair, EMS, ambulance, medical transportation, healthcare transportation, shuttle, delivery, rideshare, or other professional driving experience is preferred. Physical Requirements This is a physically active position. Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation, including pushing, pulling, and maneuvering occupied stretchers and wheelchairs; assisting with patient movement and transfers; bending, kneeling, standing, walking, and repeatedly entering/exiting vehicles; and assisting with combined passenger and equipment loads that may exceed 200 pounds using appropriate equipment and team assistance.
