About our organization: At the Palm Beach County Food Bank (PBCFB), we are guided by our mission to nourish our neighbors and improve their lives one meal at a time, ensuring that no one in our community goes hungry. PBCFB rescues and mobilizes food donations from local farmers, food distributors, retailers, and restaurants. The rescued food is allocated to our vast network of over 200 social service agencies, helping address food insecurity in the county. PBCFB is strongly committed to the nutritional success of children, seniors, and families.
Job Summary:
The Truck Driver will be the daily "face" of the Food Bank for the Community Kitchen Program and will deliver hot and cold meals and snacks to various partner sites.
Responsibilities:
  • Loads truck with hot and cold meals for daily deliveries.
  • Checks all counts for accuracy.
  • Meets delivery windows and follows specific contact instructions.
  • Records all deliveries using delivery tickets to ensure accurate counts and safe temperatures.
  • Picks up of service items from previous deliveries, cleans and sanitizes food safety standards.
  • Maintains daily record keeping of vehicle condition, service needs and facilitating that service.
  • Handles all general cleaning tasks in the production kitchen.
  • Carries out all tasks that support the work of the Community Kitchen including maintenance, cleaning, service and production
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience driving a box truck.
  • Must maintain a valid Florida Driver's license with clean driving record.
  • Ability to read directions, use a street map or use a GPS device to plot delivery routes.
  • Stellar customer service is essential.
  • Ability to maintain logs and records.
  • Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, manual and electric pallet jacks.
  • Dependable worker able to carry out a series of work instructions without constant supervision.
  • Must be physically able to lift up to 50 pounds and maneuver a loaded pallet jack regularly in order to load and deliver food.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays as required.
  • Flexible, patient, and easily able to adapt to change.
  • Must be reliable - show up for work every day and on time.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.
  • Full background, reference, drug screening and MVR check will be required.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday - 7:00 to 3:30 PM and occasionally a night or weekend day will be required. Physical Requirements With or without reasonable accommodation, employees in this position must be able to sit for extended periods of time and face exposure to varying weather conditions and road hazards. When in the warehouse, employees must be able to exert a high level of physical effort typically involving loading and unloading tasks, some combination of reaching, bending, kneeling, and walking. May include lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
