Job Summary As a Tow Truck Operator, you will be the dependable professional responsible for safely transporting vehicles, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring efficient operations. Duties Safely operate tow trucks, including flatbed and hook-and-chain models, to recover and transport vehicles from accident scenes, breakdowns, or private property. Conduct thorough vehicle inspections prior to towing, utilizing automotive diagnostics and mechanical knowledge to assess condition and ensure proper handling. Load, secure, and unload vehicles using appropriate equipment such as straps, chains, and other tools while adhering to safety protocols. Communicate effectively with customers, dispatchers, and emergency responders to coordinate pickups and deliveries efficiently. Maintain detailed logs of all towing activities, including vehicle details, locations, and times for record-keeping purposes. Perform basic automotive repairs or diagnostics when necessary to facilitate vehicle recovery or prepare vehicles for transport. Manage conflict situations professionally by demonstrating conflict management skills to resolve customer concerns or disputes calmly. Experience Proven experience operating tow trucks, especially flatbed or heavy-duty models. Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in automotive diagnostics and repairs. Familiarity with manual transmissions and automotive repair procedures. A clean driving record and a clean criminal background. Ability to load & unload vehicles safely using various equipment such as winches. Excellent customer service skills combined with conflict management abilities to handle diverse situations professionally.
