Full Job Description Job Summary:
The primary objective of the Transport Operator is to execute calls that are given by the Transport Manager without delay. Providing excellent customer service to all Welchel Enterprises' customers is our number one priority. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of transport operations and equipment with a focus on safety, efficiency, and compliance with industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Execute assignments promptly and accurately as directed by the Transport Manager, ensuring all job appointments are met on schedule. Maintain proactive communication with the Transport Manager to confirm schedules, report delays, and troubleshoot any route, equipment, or customer issues in real time. Have knowledge and understanding of Welchel Enterprises' customer base and rate structure. Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency in completing customer deliveries while maintaining full compliance with all safety and operational requirements. Provide accurate rates, mileage, & delivery information to customers in a professional and timely manner. Ability to take directions from the Fleet Manager. Utilize maps and GPS systems efficiently to ensure on-time arrivals and route optimization. Operate all company equipment with care and attention to detail and perform weekly cleaning/maintenance of assigned truck. Ensure the proper upkeep & inventory of all company-issued equipment and immediately notify the Transport Manager of any damages or losses. Thoroughly understand and abide by all safety standards and procedures. Demonstrate the ability to effectively handle pressure. Exhibit responsiveness to requests from others and provide assistance when needed. Establish and maintain professional working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the general public. Maintain regular, consistent, and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health and safety procedures. Skills & Qualifications Possess a valid Georgia Driver's License Minimum 21 years of age Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial driving OTR. Possess a valid CDL A with Manual qualification. Must have and maintain a clean driving record Excellent problem-solving skills to manage complex recovery situations. Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics. Be able to perform essential tasks involving lifting, bending, and operating flatbed equipment. Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call assignments. Proficient in navigating GPS logistics tools and fleet management software. Must pass an annual DOT physical and drug screen.
