This role offers an exciting opportunity to drive across the country, ensuring timely and safe delivery of freight while adhering to all safety and regulatory standards. As a vital part of our logistics operation, you will be responsible for transporting freight efficiently, maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations, and providing exceptional service on every route. Duties Safely operate tractor-trailer combinations, primarily using 53 ft dry van trailers for interstate routes originating from Atlanta or similar hubs. Navigate routes effectively using GPS navigation systems to ensure timely deliveries across multiple states. Load and unload freight with proper manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo safety and security during transit. Comply with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) rules, and hazardous materials regulations when applicable. Manage the transportation of various cargo types including freight, hazardous materials, and specialized loads such as refrigerated trailers or tanker units. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and securing cargo properly. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery documentation, and inspection reports in accordance with regulatory standards. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients to coordinate pickups and deliveries while providing excellent customer service. Experience Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on over-the-road (OTR) routes involving long-distance interstate travel. Demonstrated ability to operate tractor-trailers with manual transmission and flatbed or tanker configurations preferred. Familiarity with logistics cargo handling, load & unload procedures, and freight management systems. Knowledge of safety protocols related to hazardous materials transportation and dangerous goods regulations. Valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License) with endorsements relevant to the cargo type being transported; Hazmat endorsement is a plus. Strong understanding of GPS navigation tools and route planning for efficient delivery schedules.
