Report To:
Dispatch Manager / Operations Manager Bestway Transport is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Company Driver to operate a 26' straight truck for local pickup, delivery, and cartage operations throughout the Chicagoland area. This role supports air import, air export, and local freight operations serving O'Hare International Airport and surrounding logistics hubs. The ideal candidate takes pride in professionalism, punctuality, and safe handling of all freight.
Key Responsibilities:
Safely operate a 26' straight truck for local pickup and delivery routes throughout the Chicago metropolitan area. Transport air import, air export, and general freight between airports, warehouses, customer facilities, and Bestway terminals. Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections in accordance with DOT and company safety standards. Load, secure, and unload freight using proper techniques, equipment (liftgate, pallet jack, hand truck), and cargo securement methods. Accurately complete all required delivery documentation, including Bills of Lading (BOLs), Proof of Deliveries (PODs), and manifests. Communicate with dispatch in real time regarding route status, delays, exceptions, and delivery confirmations. Maintain compliance with all TSA, airport security, DOT, and FMCSA regulations applicable to the role. Follow all company policies and standard operating procedures for safe driving, cargo handling, and customer interaction. Keep the assigned vehicle clean, fueled, and in proper working condition; report any mechanical issues immediately. Represent Bestway Transport professionally at all customer locations, airports, and partner facilities. Assist with warehouse operations (loading, unloading, staging freight) as needed during downtime or high-volume periods. Perform other driving and operational duties as assigned to support team and customer success. - Class B or Class C with appropriate endorsements Clean driving record with no major violations in the past 3 years Minimum 1 year of experience operating a straight truck (26') or similar commercial vehicle Legally authorized to work in the United States (valid work authorization required) Ability to pass a DOT physical, drug screening, and background check Familiarity with Chicago-area roads, highways, and the O'Hare airport freight environment Ability to read and follow delivery manifests, BOLs, and route instructions Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally Eligibility to obtain and maintain TSA and airport security clearance Preferred Qualifications CDL Class B license (preferred over Class C) Experience with air freight, time-sensitive, or airport-related deliveries Liftgate and pallet jack operation experience Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus Prior experience working in a TSA-regulated or bonded warehouse environment Physical Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods while driving Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of freight up to 50-75 lbs Ability to climb in and out of truck cab and cargo area repeatedly throughout the day Exposure to outdoor weather conditions during loading, unloading, and delivery Manual dexterity to operate vehicle controls, pallet jacks, and hand trucks Work Environment & Schedule Local driving routes within the Chicagoland area•home daily (no over-the-road) Fast-paced, service-driven environment supporting airport•and time-sensitive freight Standard schedule: Monday-Friday, start times vary based on route assignments (typically early morning) Overtime and weekend availability may be required during peak periods Compensation Structure & Benefits Competitive hourly rate based on experience and CDL class Overtime opportunities based on operational needs Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and paid holidays Company-provided vehicle•no need to supply your own truck Career advancement opportunities within driving, operations, or leadership Equal Opportunity Statement Bestway Transport is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
