Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Ice Arena Manager and Maintenance Supervisor this position is responsible for performing general cleaning throughout the facility and maintaining acceptable ice conditions. This individual will be trained completely on the operation and maintenance of the Zamboni. This individual will also be responsible for opening and closing the facility for various skating sessions/events throughout the week. The H-F Park District's mission statement is "to enhance the quality of life through diverse recreational opportunities, facilities and parks while caring for the environment".
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide outstanding customer service to our internal and external guests by providing friendly, responsive, courteous and helpful service. Flood and maintain ice as scheduled. Participate in keeping all areas of the facility neat and safe at all times. Making sure that all entrances are clear and safe of debris and snow. Monitor the ice plant regularly. Complete all log reports as required. Perform minor maintenance on facility and ice maintenance equipment. Respond to customers' needs in a kind and courteous manner. Auto scrubbing, waxing and buffing floors. Clean showers and washroom areas. Perform small maintenance jobs. Clean windows. Adhere to all policies & procedures outlined in the Safety Manual. Occasionally assist with Park District events and programs. Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor or other Park District administrative personnel. Other job related duties as assigned.
COGNITIVE SKILLS REQUIRED
Must have the ability to solve problems as they arise and be able to perform tasks without supervision. Must be highly motivated and able to assume a positive and active role at the Ice Arena. Ability to present ideas and recommendations in a concise manner. Must be able to enforce park district rules and make sound decisions in order to secure the safety and well-being of all participants, facilities and equipment. Ability to understand and carry out verbal and/or written instructions efficiently and effectively and to read and understand printed material. Ability to effectively interact and communicate well with others. Ability to follow safety guidelines and exercise good judgment in all aspects of responsibility.
JOB SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in running and maintaining small equipment. Excellent customer service skills.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Valid driver's license required. High school diploma or equivalent. CPR/First Aid Certified. Minimum of one year experience working in an Ice Arena desirable.
