In this vital role, you will operate fully loaded tractor-trailers, primarily utilizing dry van trailers to deliver freight efficiently and safely. Responsibilities Safely operate tractor-trailers equipped with dry van trailers over long-distance routes, ensuring compliance with all DOT (Department of Transportation) and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations. Manage loading and unloading of freight, including manual handling and securing cargo in accordance with logistics cargo handling standards. Navigate using GPS systems to follow optimized routes for timely deliveries across over-the-road (OTR) driving routes. Transport refrigerated trailers when required, maintaining proper temperature controls for perishable goods. Handle hazardous materials and dangerous goods following hazardous materials regulations, if applicable, ensuring safety at all times. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers to identify mechanical issues or safety concerns before and after trips. Load and unload freight efficiently, ensuring proper truck loading techniques are followed for safety and cargo integrity. Maintain accurate delivery documentation, logs, and compliance records in line with DOT and FMCSA regulations. Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve issues promptly. Experience Proven experience in commercial truck driving, specifically in freight delivery using tractor-trailers or flatbed trucks. Prior delivery driver experience with a focus on route driving within OTR settings preferred. Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, hazardous materials handling, and dangerous goods transportation is a plus. Knowledge of GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time navigation adjustments. Understanding of DOT regulations, FMCSA guidelines, and hazardous materials regulations necessary for safe operation. Experience with manual transmission trucks is desirable but not mandatory; training will be provided if needed.
