Job Description
Kirchner Building Centers, a family-owned leader in building materials across the Midwest, is seeking a CDL Delivery Driver to join our Transportation & Logistics team. In this role, you will safely load, transport, and unload building materials to job sites and customer locations while providing friendly, professional service. Responsibilities include conducting vehicle inspections, maintaining delivery documentation, and assisting with warehouse and inventory tasks as needed. Responsibilities Operate CDL-class delivery trucks to transport building materials safely and efficiently to residential and commercial job sites Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and document findings in compliance with DOT and company standards Secure loads properly using appropriate tie-downs, tarps, and safety equipment to prevent damage and ensure safe transport Load and unload building materials, including lumber, drywall, roofing, and hardware, using forklifts, pallet jacks, and manual handling as needed Provide professional, courteous customer service at every delivery, verifying orders, obtaining signatures, and addressing basic questions or concerns Follow assigned routes and schedules while maintaining on-time deliveries and communicating delays or issues to dispatch or store management Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, DOT regulations, hours-of-service rules, and company safety policies Assist in warehouse and yard operations when not driving, including staging orders, organizing inventory, and maintaining a clean, safe work area Report vehicle maintenance needs, safety concerns, and incidents promptly to management Represent Kirchner Building Centers' family-owned, community-focused culture through teamwork, reliability, and respectful interactions with customers and coworkers Required Skills Safe commercial vehicle operation Route planning and navigation Load securement and material handling Forklift and pallet jack operation Pre-trip and post-trip inspections Basic vehicle maintenance checks Customer service and communication Time management and punctuality Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations Accurate delivery documentation and paperwork
