Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused 26' Box Truck Driver to join our growing transportation team. The driver will operate a 26-foot box truck and transport primarily food-grade equipment and general freight on local, regional, and over-the-road (OTR) routes. We are a small business that values our drivers and treats our team members like family. Most of our loads will be No Driver Assist , meaning the driver will generally not be responsible for loading or unloading the freight. However, occasional driver assistance may be required , depending on the customer or shipment. Duties Safely operate a 26-foot box truck on local, regional, and OTR routes while complying with DOT and FMCSA regulations. Transport primarily food-grade equipment , machinery, parts, and general freight. Safely operate and properly use a lift gate and pallet jack when loading or unloading is required. Most loads will be No Driver Assist , but occasional assistance with loading or unloading may be required. Plan and follow efficient delivery routes using GPS and navigation systems. Pick up and deliver freight to customers, warehouses, distribution centers, and other locations. Properly secure cargo to prevent shifting or damage during transportation. Verify shipment contents, quantities, and delivery documentation at pickup and delivery. Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any maintenance or safety concerns. Maintain accurate driving, delivery, inspection, and freight documentation. Communicate professionally with dispatchers, customers, and shipping/receiving personnel. Provide timely updates regarding pickup and delivery status, delays, traffic, or other route issues. Maintain a clean and organized truck and ensure equipment is properly secured. Follow all company policies and applicable DOT, FMCSA, and state regulations. Be prepared for overnight and multi-day OTR trips as assigned. Qualifications & Experience Valid license . Clean and safe driving record. Previous experience operating a 26-foot box truck, straight truck, tractor-trailer, or other commercial vehicle preferred. Experience with local, regional, and/or OTR freight transportation preferred. Must know how to safely operate a lift gate and pallet jack. Ability to safely handle and secure freight when driver assistance is required. Experience transporting equipment, machinery, food-grade equipment, or general freight is a plus. Familiarity with GPS/navigation systems and route planning. Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations. Ability to complete required paperwork, electronic logs, delivery documents, and inspections accurately. Strong communication and customer service skills. Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently. Ability to perform occasional physical freight-handling duties when required. Willingness to travel and stay overnight for OTR assignments.
