Job Overview Join our dynamic team at Prime Metals Recycling (division of Cars and Parts in Columbus, IN) as a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A Company Over-the-Road (OTR) Truck Driver and take charge of delivering freight with energy and precision! In this vital role, you'll operate tractor-trailers, including car haulers, 53' semi trailers, flatbeds, and dump trailers, ensuring timely and safe deliveries while adhering to all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. Your expertise in logistics cargo handling, route driving, and safety will drive our success. This position offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your driving skills on OTR routes while enjoying the thrill of managing unique deliveries across diverse locations. Duties Safely operate tractor-trailers with manual transmission across designated OTR routes, typically within a 3-hour radius, ensuring compliance with all FMCSA and DOT regulations. Securely transport freight, including scrap metals, vehicles, machinery, and other industrial parts using proper handling techniques. Navigate efficiently using GPS navigation systems to optimize routes and meet delivery schedules. Handle logistics cargo with precision, managing freight such as automobile transportation, flatbed loads, and machinery parts deliveries. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance; perform routine maintenance checks on trucks. While cargo is loaded and unloaded at various destinations, ensure proper truck loading and unloading procedures are followed. Communicate effectively with dispatch regarding delivery status, route adjustments, or any issues encountered during transit. Qualifications Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record; experience with over-the-road (OTR) driving routes preferred. Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and freight handling. Ability to operate trucks with manual transmission; familiarity with truck loading/unloading equipment is a plus. Strong understanding of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) safety standards. From $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 45.0 - 60.0 per week
