Riverside Transport is hiring a Yard Jockey to safely move and spot trailers within our Kansas City yard. This role supports efficient loading, unloading, and staging of dry van and refrigerated freight using yard tractors and hostlers. You'll perform equipment inspections, track trailer locations, and communicate closely with dispatch, warehouse staff, and drivers to keep freight flowing on time. Responsibilities Safely move and spot trailers in and out of docks and yard locations using yard tractor or hostler Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on equipment and report defects promptly Coordinate with dispatch, warehouse, and drivers to support on-time loading and unloading Maintain accurate yard moves, trailer locations, and paperwork using company systems or handhelds Follow all safety, DOT, and company policies while operating in a fast-paced yard environment Communicate clearly via radio or phone with team members to prioritize trailer moves Monitor yard conditions, secure trailers, and keep work areas organized and accessible Support occasional backing assistance, shuttle moves, or basic yard housekeeping as needed Required Skills Yard tractor/hostler operation Tractor-trailer maneuvering and backing DOT and yard safety procedures Pre-trip and post-trip inspections Radio and dispatch communication Basic yard inventory and trailer tracking Time management in fast-paced yards Refrigerated trailer handling basics Defect reporting and documentation Basic computer or handheld device use
