Job Description
Job Overview We are looking for a dedicated, skilled driver that would like to NOT work on the weekends. This is a full-time position with 2 nights a week on the road. The employee would be home on the weekends. Overtime kicks in after 40 hours each week along with regular pay for holidays. Class A CDL is required. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting lumber safely and efficiently with our trucks and trailers. This role requires a strong understanding of how to handle flatbed trucks and semis, as well as enclosed trailers and semi-trailers. Miller Lumber is a small family-owned company. The company currently has 3 full time drivers and the new employee would be the fourth. The company owner finds great joy in seeing his employees and company flourish. His mindset is to take care of his customers, his employees and that will take care of his company. •Being an Amish owned company, health insurance would be on the employee to obtain as the company does not provide health insurance for this position. Duties Operate trucks and trailers. Ensure the safe loading and unloading of freight while maintaining proper handling procedures. Perform routine inspections and maintenance checks on vehicles to ensure optimal performance. Navigate local and non-local routes efficiently to meet delivery schedules. Maintain accurate records of deliveries and vehicle inspections. Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations while driving. Communicate effectively with team members regarding delivery status and any issues that may arise. Requirements Valid commercial driver's license (Class A CDL) with appropriate endorsements for the type of vehicle being operated. Truck driving experience preferred. Familiarity with operating forklifts and other loading equipment is preferred. Ability to handle freight safely and efficiently. Strong knowledge of traffic laws and regulations. Excellent time management skills with the ability to work independently. Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check. A commitment to safety and professionalism on the road.
