Summary of the position:
The primary responsibility of the Heavy Truck Driver is to shuttle material between our warehouses. Secondary is that between trips, it is likely the Material Processor will be required to operate a forklift to unload or load the trailer, move material to storage locations or support other processes in the factory. These moves will all require knowledge of and execution of our Product Transfer process in SAP. This position is located at the Hitachi Global Air Power manufacturing plant in Michigan City, Indiana, and reports to the Materials Manager.
Duties and responsibilities:
Complete trips between any of our warehouses in the local area -- currently LaPorte and Michigan City. Loading and unloading of the trailers. Moving of material from the dock to their storage areas. Completing transfer of materials in the SAP system using the RF scanner or computer. Support raw material and finished goods movement. Proper receipt, disposition, and stocking of incoming materials Timely replenishment and stocking of materials for production processes Timely removal and proper disposal of production scrap and waste Internal Cycle Counting/Inventory Management - conduct all system transactions accurately to reach inventory accuracy targets of 98% Support finished goods shipment, movement, and stocking for B1 inventory Strict adherence to safety and quality procedures in all activities performed
Qualifications:
Education :
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Professional experience:
This position requires a Class A CDL license and at least 1 year of driving a semi with manual transmission. Minimum two years of material handling experience in a manufacturing/production environment. Demonstrated experience safely utilizing equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts and other normally used equipment in product delivery. Ability to pass forklift driving test. Must pass screening process through a CDL clearinghouse.

Lifting over 35 lbs. requires a lifting device, crane, or assistance from another associate. Must be able to bend/stoop, squat/crouch, kneel and twist. Must understand and comply with Sullair Safety Standards. Participate in EHS quarterly audits, if required. Required to wear the proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the work area. Required to attend scheduled toolbox and safety meetings. Must maintain good standing with Class A CDL. Must immediately report injuries or unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
