Description:

At Bio Town Ag, Inc. you have the opportunity to join a team that looks beyond the traditional farming aspects of just agriculture and livestock. Our operation includes an anaerobic digester that recycles animal waste and other organic by-products to produce methane gas. This gas is used to power 6 engine generators with the capability of producing up to 6 megawatts of electricity, most of which goes back into the electric grid. We are one of the most unique waste recycling operations in the United States. We currently have an opening for a CDL-A Local Truck Driver. This is a full-time position, and our drivers are home every night. We are seeking experienced, safety-minded drivers with a good driving record who can work with limited supervision, pay close attention to detail, and represent Bio Town Ag, Inc. professionally on the road.
Position Overview:
The CDL-A Local Truck Driver will safely and efficiently operate a tractor-trailer or straight truck to transport and deliver agricultural products, livestock, feed, and other materials to and from Bio Town Ag facilities and local destinations, in compliance with all applicable state and federal transportation laws and DOT regulations.
Outline of Duties:
The candidate will be part of a team-oriented environment while remaining accountable for personal performance, safety, and timely completion of deliveries.
Primary duties include:
Operate a semi-truck or tractor-trailer according to applicable state and federal transportation laws and DOT regulations. Safely transport and deliver agricultural products, feed, livestock, and other materials over required local routes in a timely, professional manner; drivers are home every night. Check the vehicle before and after each trip to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order; report defects, damage, or malfunctions promptly. Maneuver truck and trailer into loading and unloading positions, following signals from the loading crew. Load and unload goods and materials as needed, using specialized equipment when required; secure cargo using ropes, chains, binders, or covers. Couple and uncouple trailers, including connecting/disconnecting air and electrical lines and checking fifth-wheel locks. Maintain accurate driver logs of working hours and vehicle service/repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations. Maintain signed invoices, bills of lading, and other required paperwork; deliver documentation to the appropriate staff upon completion of each route. Perform basic vehicle maintenance (checking oil, water, fuel, and other fluids) and keep the truck cab, interior, and exterior clean; report maintenance needs to the Shop Manager. Read and interpret maps and GPS to determine efficient local routes. Drive on established roadways, avoiding unnecessary stops, shortcuts, or unsafe practices; remember that our trucks represent Bio Town Ag, Inc. on the road. Maintain a current Medical Examination Report (DOT physical) meeting required standards. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A) with a good driving record. Experience hauling with dump, van, tanker, and/or hopper trailers preferred. Must pass a background check and pre-employment/random drug testing as required by federal and/or state department(s) of transportation regulations. High integrity, strong work ethic, and a positive, self-motivated attitude; able to work well with limited supervision or as part of a team. Detail-oriented with good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to remain focused and organized in a busy work environment. Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs unassisted. Ability to sit for prolonged periods in a truck cab and travel frequently on local routes. May occasionally be required to work after hours or on weekends as business needs require. Full-time position with full benefits after 90 days (Health, Dental, and Vision, 401k along with several additional options). Paid vacation after 6 months of full-time employment. Drivers are home every night.
