Haul Truck Driver - Limestone Open Pit QuarryPosition Summary The Haul Truck Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently operating off-road haul trucks to transport limestone and other materials throughout an open pit quarry. This position plays a critical role in maintaining continuous production while following all company safety policies, operating procedures, and environmental regulations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Safely operate large off-road haul trucks to transport limestone, overburden, and other quarry materials from loading areas to designated dump locations. Conduct pre-shift and post-shift equipment inspections and complete required inspection reports. Monitor equipment performance and promptly report mechanical problems, damage, or unsafe conditions to the supervisor or maintenance department. Follow designated haul routes, traffic patterns, speed limits, and communication procedures. Maintain safe distances from other mobile equipment, personnel, highwalls, stockpiles, and other hazards. Safely position the haul truck for loading and dumping operations. Communicate effectively with equipment operators, supervisors, dispatch personnel, and other quarry employees using radios and other approved communication methods. Perform basic housekeeping and keep the truck cab clean and free of debris. Assist with general quarry operations and other duties as assigned during downtime or production delays. Comply with all applicable safety regulations, including MSHA requirements. Immediately report accidents, incidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, and equipment damage. Work safely around heavy equipment, blasting areas, uneven terrain, dust, noise, and changing weather conditions. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous experience operating off-road haul trucks, heavy equipment, or similar equipment preferred. Ability to safely operate equipment in an open pit quarry environment. Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to identify potential equipment issues. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and company safety procedures. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers. Must be dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work as part of a team. Must be able to work assigned shifts, including overtime, weekends, or holidays as needed. Valid driver's license may be required. Physical Requirements and Work Environment Ability to climb in and out of heavy equipment safely. Ability to sit and operate equipment for extended periods. Ability to work in outdoor conditions, including heat, cold, rain, dust, and other changing weather conditions. Ability to work around loud noise, vibration, moving equipment, uneven surfaces, and heavy industrial activity. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Ability to perform physical tasks such as walking, climbing, bending, and occasional lifting as required. Safety Responsibilities Safety is a primary responsibility of this position.

The Haul Truck Driver must:

Follow all company safety policies and MSHA regulations. Conduct required workplace and equipment inspections. Use appropriate PPE at all times. Maintain awareness of surrounding equipment and personnel. Stop work and report unsafe conditions when necessary. Participate in safety meetings and required training. Preferred Skills Experience in quarry, mining, construction, or aggregate operations. Experience operating Caterpillar, Komatsu, Volvo, or similar off-road haul trucks. Knowledge of quarry traffic patterns and safe hauling practices. Strong attention to detail and situational awareness. Ability to work independently while maintaining communication with the production team. Employment Status This position may be full-time and is typically based on the operational needs of the quarry. Hours may vary depending on production schedules, weather conditions, and business needs.
