Job Description
Job Overview We are looking for a dependable On-Call / Fill-In Shuttle Driver & Yard Spotter to join our team. This position is ideal for someone looking for occasional or supplemental work who is willing to come in when needed to help cover vacations, call-ins, scheduling gaps, increased workload, or other operational needs. Depending on the day, you may be assigned to shuttle trailers between locations or work on-site in the yard spotting and positioning trailers . This is not a regularly scheduled position and hours are not guaranteed. We are looking for someone with flexibility who is comfortable being contacted when additional coverage is needed. Responsibilities Shuttle trailers between designated locations as assigned Spot and position trailers throughout the yard Back trailers into docks and designated parking areas Hook and unhook trailers safely Move empty and loaded trailers as needed Cover shifts when regular drivers or spotters are unavailable Perform basic equipment and safety inspections Communicate trailer locations, equipment issues, and operational needs Follow all company and customer safety procedures Assist with other transportation or yard-related duties as needed Qualifications Previous experience operating tractor-trailers, yard trucks, spotter trucks, or shuttle equipment preferred CDL Required Experience backing, spotting, hooking, and unhooking trailers Comfortable maneuvering trailers in tight yard and dock areas Manual transmission experience is a plus Dependable and willing to work on an as-needed basis Flexible availability, including occasional short-notice coverage Strong communication skills Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment Safety-focused and reliable Schedule On-call / as-needed. There is no guaranteed weekly schedule or guaranteed number of hours. Work may become available due to vacations, employee call-ins, increased workload, or other coverage needs. This is a great opportunity for someone who is retired, semi-retired, has a flexible schedule, or is simply looking to pick up additional work when available.
