Articulated Dump Truck Operator / Off Road Truck Driver Job Description This role supports ash basin closure and environmental remediation activities in Bedford KY through high‑production hauling operations. The Articulated Dump Truck Operator / Off Road Truck Driver is responsible for safely transporting coal ash, dirt, rock, aggregate, and other materials across an active construction site to support basin closure and large‑scale earthmoving objectives. Responsibilities Operate articulated dump trucks (ADT) and off-road haul trucks in a safe, efficient, and productive manner. Haul coal ash, dirt, rock, aggregate, and other environmental materials throughout the project site to support ash basin closure activities. Follow designated haul routes and adhere to established loading, hauling, and dumping procedures. Maintain high production targets while operating within an active construction and heavy civil environment. Conduct thorough pre-shift equipment inspections and promptly report any maintenance or safety issues. Perform basic preventative maintenance checks on equipment to support reliable operation. Work closely with excavator operators, track hoe operators, and site supervision to coordinate loading, hauling, and dumping activities. Use radio communication to coordinate movements with other operators and site personnel. Operate safely on uneven terrain and haul roads, maintaining control and awareness in challenging site conditions. Adhere to all site safety policies, environmental regulations, and operational requirements at all times. Work effectively around heavy equipment, excavation crews, and other construction activities while maintaining situational awareness. Support environmental remediation efforts by safely handling and transporting coal ash and other materials. Contribute to production-driven project goals by maintaining consistent output and quality of work. Follow instructions from site supervision and adjust operations as needed to meet changing project requirements. Participate in a culture of safety, quality, and environmental compliance on the job site. Essential Skills Proven experience operating articulated dump trucks in heavy production environments. Demonstrated ability to work safely around active haul routes, heavy equipment, and construction operations. Hands-on experience with off-road haul truck operation for earthmoving and material transportation. Strong understanding of loading and dumping procedures for coal ash, dirt, rock, aggregate, and other materials. Knowledge of construction site safety practices and ability to follow safety protocols consistently. Experience conducting equipment inspections and reporting maintenance issues. Ability to operate safely on uneven terrain and active haul roads in high-production conditions. Experience working in production-driven work environments such as ash pond closures, environmental remediation projects, landfills, mining operations, dredging projects, quarries, or large-scale heavy civil construction. Effective radio communication skills for coordinating with equipment operators and site supervision. Ability to maintain focus and productivity while meeting safety, quality, and environmental standards. Additional Skills & Qualifications Environmental remediation experience involving coal ash handling and transport. Background in mining, quarry, landfill, dredging, or other heavy civil construction projects. Experience with earthworks, fine grading, and dirt moving operations. Familiarity with working around excavators, track hoes, and other heavy equipment. Comfort working in high-production excavation and material handling environments at industrial facilities. Strong awareness of environmental compliance requirements related to ash basin closure and material handling. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Bedford, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
