Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Lumber Associate/CDL Driver is a dual-role position responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the lumberyard while managing deliveries. This individual will use their CDL (Commercial Driver s License) to transport lumber and building materials while also assisting in the upkeep, organization, and safety of the yard. The role combines driving, customer service, and yard maintenance responsibilities to support the smooth operation of the business and ensure high-quality service for all customers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Safely operate delivery trucks (CDL-required) to transport lumber and building materials to customer locations in a timely, professional manner. Ensure that all deliveries are properly loaded, secured, and unloaded, following all safety guidelines and ensuring product quality. Assist customers with loading materials, providing guidance on product selection, and addressing any questions or concerns during deliveries. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe lumberyard by performing regular yard upkeep, including sweeping, organizing materials, and disposing of waste. Perform routine checks and maintenance on delivery vehicles and yard equipment to ensure safety and functionality. Assist in managing inventory, ensuring products are well-organized, and promptly reporting any stock issues or discrepancies. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures while working in the yard and while driving, ensuring compliance with transportation regulations. Assist with unloading incoming shipments of lumber and building materials, ensuring proper storage and handling. Responsible for track renovation break and close on specified days of the week.
QUALIFICATIONS

A combination of driving expertise, customer service skills, and yard management experience is essential for success in this position. Must possess the ability to work with very limited supervision. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
Previous experience in a lumberyard, warehouse, or similar environment is preferred. Strong physical stamina, capable of lifting heavy materials and performing physical labor. Ability to safely operate yard equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks. Knowledge of lumber and building materials, or a willingness to learn.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS A
Kentucky Horse Racing Authority License is required for all track workers provided upon hire by Keeneland. Valid CDL with a clean driving record and the ability to safely operate large delivery trucks.
