Emergency Services Work Location Lexington, KY Grade Level 06 Salary Range $16.20-24.82/hour Type of Position Staff Position Time Status Full-Time Required Education HS Click here for more information about equivalencies: https://hr.uky.edu/employment/working-uk/equivalencies Required Related Experience 1 yr Required License/Registration/Certification Driver's License Physical Requirements The candidate will need to be able to safely push, pull, and maneuver occupied wheelchairs on flat surfaces and ramps; lift, carry, and position equipment, such as wheelchairs, weighing up to 50 lbs without accommodations; and have the ability to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods. Shift Shifts will be 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with employees working four shifts per week to total 37.5 hours, including a 30-minute built-in lunch break. Shifts will rotate and include coverage seven days per week, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Job Summary The Wheelchair Transport Driver is responsible for safely transporting patients using wheelchair-accessible vehicles to assigned destinations in support of UK HealthCare operations. This role ensures timely, professional, and courteous transport by operating non- CDL vehicles in compliance with traffic laws and organizational procedures. The position includes assisting patients during boarding and unloading to maintain safety and dignity, operating wheelchair ramps, lifts, and securement systems, and maintaining vehicle readiness and cleanliness. The driver also completes required documentation, including trip tickets and mileage logs, and communicates effectively with dispatch and leadership regarding schedules, delays, or vehicle concerns. This position does not require clinical certification.

Skills / Knowledge
/ Abilities Basic computer proficiency, ability to use mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets, and the ability to use GPS or navigation applications. Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? No Preferred Education/Experience At least one year experience in a driving, transportation, or delivery role is preferred. Experience working with the public in a service-oriented environment.
